SacDOT is recruiting to fill two vacancies on our Transportation Planning and Development Services team. Qualifications and a job description relating to each position are provided below.
Associate Civil Engineer
Salary Range: $110,893.68 – $134,801.28
The Associate Civil Engineer is responsible for a variety of civil engineering work in connection with the review of development projects, including conditions of approval and checking plans for on- and off-site improvements. Examples may include site plans, parking lot and driveway configuration, roadway and intersection plans, striping plans, and traffic signal plans. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Sacramento County’s Improvement Standards or similar, and be comfortable in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment. The Associate Civil Engineer should demonstrate good time management and communication skills, and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, project applicants, and their engineering consultants.

Senior Civil Engineer
Salary Range: $136,012.32 – $149,960.16*
The Senior Civil Engineer is responsible for a variety of civil engineering work in connection with the review of development projects, similar to the Associate Civil Engineer. The difference is that the Senior Civil Engineer will be expected to exercise a higher degree of autonomy and judgment, when resolving potential challenges and conflicts (e.g. resolving unusual or constrained situations, evaluating requested deviations from standards). The ideal candidate will have experience working with Sacramento County’s Improvement Standards or similar and demonstrate experience managing a team in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment. The Senior Civil Engineer should demonstrate good time management and communication skills, maintain effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, project applicants, their engineering consultants, and County management, and have demonstrated experience navigating challenging problems while exercising sound judgment.
